Some people have been asking how big sister has coped since Tiago's entrance into our lives. The truth is, Cham loved her baby brother the minute she laid eyes on him and has shown no signs of changing her mind. If anything, the problem is she wants to do more with him than we let her: she wants to kiss his face constantly (even while she had a bad cough), she wants to carry him around, she wants him to sleep with her on her bed (or sleep with him in his crib).

Cham's my helper whenever I need an extra pair of hands (i.e. "Can you please hand me the Boppy?") and she lets me know whenever she thinks Tiago needs something, as in "Mommy! Baby's crying! I think he needs a new diaper." When she's playing in her room and she hears Tiago fussing in his crib, she'll run over and talk or sing to him, or turn on the little sounds/lullabies gadget next to him. It's like her mothering instincts are on overdrive.



The pre-baby anxiety has also *knock on wood* seemed to have phased out. She doesn't fuss too much about school anymore, and even has a song handy for when Tiago starts to cry in the mornings (she's convinced he cries because he thinks she's leaving him, and she sings him her special song). Even Miss Kathy tells us Cham just can't stop talking about "my baby" at school.

Tiago's teaching Cham about patience. Where she used to demand everyone's instant attention (and usually got it), she's starting to negotiate: "Mommy can you come to my room when you're done feeding Tiago? We can play 'school', and baby can come too." She's always been pretty good about sharing toys with others, and now has to extend that concept to sharing Mommy & Daddy (and grandparents). It's been hard sharing grandparents (she's used to them having eyes only for her) but she's learning.

All in all, Chamina's trying very hard to be a good big sister, and has really grown up a lot in the last 4 weeks! Life can only get more interesting from here on out.
